Chronic and Acute Pain
Imagine… A Life without pain…You can live pain-free!

Chronic pain affects more than 100 million people in the United States and the costs for the treatment of chronic pain exceed the costs for cancer, heart disease, and diabetes combined (1).

Both chronic and acute pain are difficult to treat. Physicians typically recommend pain medications, corticosteroid injections, physical therapy, or surgery. However, many physicians overly depend on opioid medications, which is creating a growing epidemic of opioid addiction.

Improperly managed pain not only inhibits sleep and activities, it has serious health consequences such as disturbing the nervous system and disrupting the immune system, leading to a wide variety of issues such as impaired digestive function, lowered cognitive function, and increased susceptibility to illness and disease.

Why do we experience pain?

When we get acutely injured, pain is an essential part of the healing process. When our bodies hurt, we tend to be gentle with those areas, increasing our healing. The increased inflammation and swelling summons essential blood cells to repair the tissue. And the added heat makes the area less tolerable to microbes, decreasing our risk for infection. However, inflammation that continues beyond the acute phase ultimately decreases the health of the area through decreased circulation. The increased blood cells in the area are helpful initially, but over time, they continue to trigger inflammation and pain.  And our brains get conditioned to send pain signals, leaving us suffering even after everything has structurally healed. To stop this vicious cycle, the body needs interventions that can bring everything back into balance.

Good news! We have a different approach, one that will get you back to doing the things you love!

Dr. Miller combines specialized, cutting edge injection techniques with other scientifically proven treatments to treat your pain at the cause.

Discover some of the cutting-edge techniques the providers at Nutima Integrative Medicine use to treat pain at the source:

Trigger point therapy

Trigger point therapy is great at treating pain, especially when the pain is muscular in origin.  There are places in the muscles called trigger points, that when injected, can allow the entire muscle to relax.  Trigger point therapy compliments chiropractic adjustments, massage therapy, acupuncture, and Perineural Injection Therapy.

Perineural Injection Therapy

Perineural Injection Therapy is a treatment for nerve pain.  Nerve pain happens to us when the nerves are damaged due to overuse, trauma, surgeries, injuries, nutrient deficiencies, and inflammation. Perineural Injection therapy works by interrupting the brain’s pain signal loop that often gets stuck when we have experienced chronic pain for too long.  These injections instantly reduce or stop the pain signals to the brain, decrease inflammation, and also replenish the nerves so that they can optimally function without pain.

Neural Therapy

Neural Therapy is an injection therapy that helps reset the nervous system. Remember that time you fell off your bike when you were five years old? Or maybe it was a car accident fifteen years ago that leaves you with lingering back pain?  Those old injuries leave scar tissue and, sometimes, emotional pain, which is the target for neural therapy. If you suffer from chronic pain, acute injury, scars, lingering pain from surgeries, or any emotional or physical trauma, neural therapy can have a life changing impact for you.
