SkinPen® Microneedling
Stimulate the Skin’s Ability to Repair and Rejuvenate Itself
Would you like to reduce acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, and improve skin texture in a natural yet effective way? The SkinPen Microneedling system is the industry leader in microneedling technology, and Dr. Miller only uses the best for her patients.
What is microneedling?
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that helps minimize the signs of aging, improve the appearance of acne scars and rejuvenate aging skin. Don’t let the name scare you- the needles are truly so small and “micro” that the procedure is comfortable and fast! Microneedling can safely be used in a variety of patients with all skin types. The addition of natural growth factors or platelet rich plasma (PRP) to your microneedling treatment can compound the effects and enhance outcomes of your treatment.
What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?
When SkinPen® microneedling is combined with a procedure called Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy, you can achieve enhanced skin rejuvenation using the power of your own blood cells. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) are also known as natural growth factors because they come from your own body. These are special cells in the body that promote rejuvenation of tissue, hair growth, and wound healing. PRP stimulates stem cells to improve collagen and elastin in the skin, resulting in a firmer, more hydrated, more youthful complexion. When applied to the scalp it results in regeneration of dormant follicles, resulting in hair growth that is fuller, thicker, and longer. Adding PRP to your microneedling treatment will accelerate the benefits of the treatment, resulting in faster, more pronounced results each time.

What to expect before, during, and after treatment
Your skin will be cleansed and a topical numbing cream will be applied. If you are getting PRP with your microneedling session, a small amount of blood will be drawn and spun down to isolate the growth factors in it. The device is moved across the treatment area while you relax with a warm aromatherapy neck pillow.
Immediately after treatment, your skin will look a little red, like a sun burn; this usually only lasts for a couple hours, but can take up to two days to resolve. During the healing process, which is minor, you can return immediately to non-taxing tasks such as office work. You’ll be sent home with after care serums and a mask to enhance results of the treatment! The length of your microneedling treatment will depend on the number and the size of the areas being treated; however, most procedures last around 1 hour. Results are visible after just one treatment and continue to improve in the weeks that follow, as the growth of collagen and elastin in the target areas progressively replenish the skin. Patients who use microneedling to reduce signs of age and improve skin tone may need only one treatment session to achieve their cosmetic goals; however, individuals who are trying to minimize the appearance of acne scarring or other conditions may require a series of treatments to attain the best possible outcome. The SkinPen® can also be used to enhance the results achieved with our professional skin care products such as creams, gels, or serums. During your initial consultation, Dr. Miller will discuss all aspects of the procedure and give you an idea of how many treatments may be necessary to meet your expectations. Dr. Miller typically recommends 3 – 5 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart for optimal results and long-term benefits.
How much does it cost?
Costs range between $450-$900 depending on the size of the area treated and if PRP is added. Packages are available.
